Viet Dinh Profile.jpg

Viet Dinh is a 4th year PhD candidate who joined the Cerebral & Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory in Fall 2023. Though he was originally on a pre-medical track for all of his undergraduate career, he found a love for research when he came to UNT Health Fort Worth in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic – a very sensible time to start graduate school. He is a consistent and loyal denizen of Fort Worth, TX, having previously received his BS in Biology from TCU in 2019 and his MS in Biomedical Sciences from UNTHSC in 2022, and hopes that his post-doctoral career will be found literally anywhere else.

Viet is an active member of the UNT Health Fort Worth community, as he has trouble saying "no" when taking on roles. He was a founding officer and former President of the physiology and anatomy department student organization, PHANatics. He also previously served as Integrative Physiology Representative of the Student Association for Biomedical Sciences (SABS), as Vice Chair of the School of Biomedical Science Values Committee, as Chair of the CBTS Research Day Committee, and as a UNT Health Student Ambassador.

Outside of the lab, Viet's hyperfixations include a love for movies, multi-hour video essays, X-Men comics, and the A Song of Ice and Fire novels (yes, he does believe The Winds of Winter will come out one day). He is also an advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights, trans rights, feminism, Black Lives Matter, and social justice and equity as a whole.
