Postdoctoral Research Associate
(she/her/hers)

Dr. Erica Tourula is a postdoctoral research associate who joined the Cerebral & Cardiovascular Physiology Laboratory in August 2025. Erica recently earned her PhD from Indiana University School of Public Health – Bloomington, where her laboratory and field research focused on occupational heat stress, hydration, and renal injury risk among workers exposed to extreme environments.
She is currently under the mentorship of Dr. Caroline Rickards at the University of North Texas Health in Fort Worth, TX, studying the Assessment of a Vascular Tone Monitoring System for the Measurement of Vascular Resistance in Humans. Her broader research interests include assessing physiological monitoring technologies that can help alert individuals at risk for heat-related illness and identify individuals at risk for cardiovascular collapse during hemorrhagic events.
